Capitol Connections is the one day each year AIA Washington Council invites all AIA members in the state to visit Olympia to lobby our state legislators regarding the common interests architects have that impact the practice of architecture. This year’s Capitol Connections is being held on January 18, 2018. Our lobbyist has reserved rooms A, B, and C of the John A. Cherburg Building to hold the event.
The final Agenda for the event has not yet been finalized. Please return to this page as the event draws closer for the final Agenda for the day. A tentative agenda for the day is a follows: Sign in is presently scheduled to start at 8:00 am. The program starts at 8:30 am, however, as we know some people may not be able to make it by 8:30, the early presentations will be repeated later in the morning. The program will generally include an update on our advocacy efforts, presentation on how to talk to a legislator, speakers, and lunch. Visits with your state legislators will be scheduled to occur throughout the day so that members have the best chance of speaking with their legislator. A casual debrief of your legislator visits will start at 4:30 pm.
There will be a light Continental Breakfast provided that will include: seasonal berries & grapes, yogurt, homemade granola bars, assorted juices. Regular and decaf coffee will be provided throughout the day.
To defray the Council’s costs for organizing the event, there is a $45 registration fee to attend. This year, however, all travel costs will be reimbursed. If you are interested in attending the Capitol Connections event please fill out the form below to RSVP to the event.
