The Annual AIA|WA Civic Design Awards were held May 14, 2009. Eight projects were honored at the event. Three were given the Citation Award, three received the Merit Award, and two were awarded the Honor.

All of the buildings were praised for their transparency which allowed for a connection to the environment and vibrant natural light; the jury further commended the designs for their seamless integration of community purpose with beautiful architecture.

UW School of Medicine Phase 2 Awarded to: Perkins+Will Architects University of Washington		Academic Instructional Center Awarded to: NAC - Executive Architects Opsis - Design Architects Western Washington University
