State Representative Davina Duerr (D-Bothell) will be speaking to AIA|WA members as part of our Capital Connections event that usually takes place in Olympia. Rep. Duerr is the only current architect in the State Legislature and this will be her first opportunity to speak with AIA members as a group.
All members are invited to join us for this 30 minute session by Zoom. You do not need to be participating in Capital Connections to attend this event. NOTE: if you are already signed up to participate in Capital Connections, you do not need to register separately for this event.
Rep. Duerr will speak to what it’s like to bring architect thinking to the Legislature; her experiences from her first year and a half in Olympia; and her priorities for 2021. She’ll also answer your questions.
About Rep. Davina Duerr: In her short time in the Legislature, Rep. Duerr has taken a lead on climate issues. Last year she successfully sponsored one of AIA’s priorities, C-PACER legislation, which provides a private funding mechanism for deep green and resiliency-related building improvements. This year, she’s taking on some huge bills, including Growth Management Act reform legislation and embodied carbon legislation. In 2021-22 she will sit on the House Environment & Energy; Local Government; and Transportation committees. She concurrently sits on the Bothell City Council.
