The AIA Washington Council held its Civic Design Awards celebration on Sept. 26, honoring design excellence in publicly funded projects located in Washington State. These awards showcase projects with the highest standards in sustainability, innovation, building performance and overall integration with the client and surrounding communities.
This year 12 projects out of 41 submittals were recognized in four categories, Honorable Mention, Citation, Merit and Honor. Both built and unbuilt projects were judged on the following criteria: design quality, functional utility, economy, environmental harmony, sustainability, accessibility, aesthetic delight, creativity, craftsmanship and innovation.
