By February 11, 2022 Climate No Comments

The 2021 proposed Washington State Energy Code – Commercial will be voted on by the State Building Code Council (SBCC) on April 22. You can review the proposed changes here: summary / technical.

If you would like to comment on any of the proposals, you may do so in several ways:

  • Via online hearings: Provide verbal testimony at one of two public hearings (if you would like to testify, contact Kirsten for more information):
    • February 25, 10:00 am
    • March 11, 10:00 am (overflow testimony)
  • Heat pump letter: as part of the code update, AIA is supporting new requirements for the use of efficient electric heat pumps for space and water heating in new commercial and large multifamily buildings. For those interested in supporting these proposals, please consider signing on to a building industry letter in support of the heat pump provisions (as an individual or a firm) and sharing this opportunity with others in the AEC industry
