The Board started its process to replace outgoing Executive Director, Jeffrey Hamlett, Esq., AIA last October. After a lengthy national search, Tammie Sueirro was hired. Here is a little more about Tammie.

Tammie holds a Bachelors of Architecture from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. She was a principal at Mithūn as well as the director of human resources and project director for Mission Driven Housing. In this role, she directed large-scale affordable housing projects, integrating a variety of innovative community engagement processes and building systems. She received a Certificate of Nonprofit Management from the University of Washington in 2011.  Tammie was the Executive Director of Zeno, where she worked with low-income elementary school communities to develop a positive culture around mathematics and most recently she was the Chief Administrative Officer for Plymouth Housing, which provides permanent supportive housing to homeless adults in Seattle. She has served on several boards, including serving as chair of the board of Hospitality House Women’s Shelter in Burien and as treasurer of the American Institute of Architects-Seattle.

Our thanks to Jeffrey, for the five years he has served as the AIA Washington Council’s Executive Director. And our best wishes to him as he transitions into semi-retirement (he will continue his legal practice providing legal and risk advice to architects related to the practice of architecture).
